Wayan S. Jiwatman was born in 1972 into a local farmer family in Br. Cagaan, Pejeng Village, Tampaksiring, Gianyar.

He showed exceptional painting skills already in his early years. After he finished his secondary school, he started to study art and paintings at SMSR (Fine Art High School in Ubud) in 1989 until 1994.

He deepened his artistic knowledge and skills by studying in STSI (Art College of Indonesia in Denpasar) from 1997 to 2004.
